About the work
Vintage postcard elements contrast with brutalist architecture to lend a surreal aspect to a swim under the stars. This piece is a hand-pulled, limited-edition screen print created in four layers and embellished by the artist with 24ct gold leaf.
Maxine Gregson is a contemporary artist and printmaker based in Hackney, East London. Often inspired by music lyrics and literature, her work has been described as ‘Nostalgic Futurism’, and brings together typography, photography, grid layering and vintage motifs to create surrealist artworks that feel futuristic yet familiar. The CMYK printing process she favours helps merge old and new elements together to evoke highly emotive visual stories.
