About the work
Born of a dream sequence in which life in a glamorous retro interior plays out against a tumultuous sea backdrop, this hand-pulled, limited edition screen print is composed of six individual layers and finished with 24ct gold leaf.
Maxine Gregson is a contemporary artist and printmaker based in Hackney, East London. Often inspired by music lyrics and literature, her work has been described as ‘Nostalgic Futurism’, and brings together typography, photography, grid layering and vintage motifs to create surrealist artworks that feel futuristic yet familiar. The CMYK printing process she favours helps merge old and new elements together to evoke highly emotive visual stories.
