About the work
A holidaying couple in a cable car lead us into a nostalgic day out at Florida’s Daytona Beach in the 1970s. Part of a series of hand-pulled mini screen prints inspired by Gregson’s collection of vintage postcards. Printed in a limited edition of 50 on recycled paperback paper.
Maxine Gregson is a contemporary artist and printmaker based in Hackney, East London. Often inspired by music lyrics and literature, her work has been described as ‘Nostalgic Futurism’, and brings together typography, photography, grid layering and vintage motifs to create surrealist artworks that feel futuristic yet familiar. The CMYK printing process she favours helps merge old and new elements together to evoke highly emotive visual stories.
