About the work
Narnia Tsugaike Kogen, Hakuba, Japan Behind the small resort of Tasugaike Kogen are the imperial forests of Japan, the essence of the delicate culture that abounds in this country. The amount of snow that lands on the South Island always does surprise. Sam Horne chooses his line through the widely spaced silver birch trees coated in the hoar frost of a deep winter. This magical hidden area of the back-country that our guides John Falkiner and Steve Lee have called Narnia and the steep North facing slopes never disappoint. Capturing the spectacular umbrella of the trees with the perspective of a skier in full flight within the dense forest was something I have been striving for many years to achieve.Medium: Giclee print mounted on Dibond
