Jesse Dayan

"It's the remembrances, associations and lived experiences contained within the atmosphere of an interior that I find compelling."

Based in Melbourne Australia, Jesse Dayan’s paintings are informed by continuous research and engagement with the many traditions of image making. He has a keen interest in the narrative possibilities of painting, with the starting point for many of his images being the familiar interiors of everyday life. His paintings are built upon a process of drawing from life, fused with an openness and the poetic possibilities of space. Important to these works is the interplay between both the internal and external spaces from which he draws inspiration which allows the viewer to read both the physical and psychological sense of space.
