Monkey Queen, printed in 2003 by Banksy and POW, features his recurring monkey motif, this time as Her Majesty The Queen, set against a Union Jack target pattern. This satirical piece, published to coincide with Queen Elizabeth II’s Diamond Jubilee, blends social commentary with iconic imagery.
Banksy’s original painting Monkey Queen was sold for £14.4 million in 2021, setting a record as the highest price ever paid for one of his artworks. The proceeds were donated to charities and organisations related to the NHS.
Monkey Queen is numbered in pencil in the lower right corner, remains in pristine condition, and is accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity issued by Pest Control.
