Published by Pictures on Walls in 2003, Golf Sale reimagines Jeff Widener's iconic photograph of the 1989 Tiananmen Square protest, where a lone man stood resolutely before a line of military tanks. In Banksy’s satirical twist, the man no longer holds his jacket and bag but instead raises a placard reading 'Golf Sale,' complete with an arrow pointing off canvas—an absurd juxtaposition of consumer culture against the backdrop of a profound moment of resistance.
Golf Sale is a pristine example of a Banksy print, and includes the official artist stamp in red ink. It comes complete with a Certificate of Authenticity issued by Pest Control.
