'Soup Can' was released by Banksy and Pictures On Walls in 2005, and was made available in several different and distinct colourways. The original colourway showing the recognisable brand colours of Tesco, was released as a signed edition of 50, and unsigned edition of 250. The subsequent 28 colourways were released as signed editions of 10.

A wry critique on the unstoppable march of consumerism in the UK from high street supermarkets in the early 2000's, 'Soup Can' plays on the recognisable aesthetic of an iconic series of artworks by the US giant of Pop Art, Andy Warhol. Warhol's 'Campbell's Soup Cans'- 1962, depict en-masse, the range of flavours of soup available to consumers in the early 60's deigned in near identical packaging. Banky's tongue in cheek choice to depict Tesco's 'Value' range of soup (a cheaper alternative) points to the artist's undermining of ideas around value and luxury within modern consumerism.
