Daniel Remer works from a clear vision of both concept and final composition, seeking the perfect objects for his still life images. The wooden triangle ruler was one that took time to find, its shape chosen as the ideal resting place for the rose. Its stem snapped, a pink rose hangs from the top corner of the triangle, which stands upright at the centre of the composition. A single petal has fallen to the surface where the objects rest. ‘The Contours of Nature’ speak of fragility and transience, suggesting beauty held in a moment just before it fades.
