Monkey Queen, printed in 2003 by Banksy and POW, features his recurring monkey motif, this time as Her Majesty The Queen, set against a Union Jack target pattern. This satirical piece, published to coincide with Queen Elizabeth II’s Diamond Jubilee, blends social commentary with iconic imagery.
Banksy’s original painting Monkey Queen was sold for £14.4 million in 2021, setting a record as the highest price ever paid for one of his artworks. The proceeds were donated to charities and organisations related to the NHS.
