About the work
“I like to play at the tense borders between lust and innocence; joy and sadness; fun and pain.” – Marcelina Amelia.
Marcelina Amelia is a contemporary artist who works with mixed media approaches to print, painting and drawing. She often draws inspiration from her Polish heritage, religious iconography, folk tales, and childhood memories, as well as the power of dreams, spirituality, sexuality, and the human condition. This piece shows someone sitting, staring into the distance whilst leaning on a pile of books. It is an archival pigment ink print on Hahnemuhle 330gsm paper hand-finished with acrylic paint with deckled edges.
