How does Hancock Gallery work?

We work to provide exceptional artwork to buyers and investors of art no matter where you are on your art buying journey. Purchases can be made in our gallery or online. We also provide services such as valuations, artwork brokerage and try-before-you-buy home consultations and appointments. Entry to Hancock Gallery is free.

What is the Own Art scheme?

Own Art is a national initiative backed by Arts Council England, which provides UK residents with a simple and flexible way of buying artwork using an interest-free plan. Since 2004, the Own Art scheme has enabled more than 83,000 customers to get access to the art they love.

What is the process of purchasing art from the Gallery?

The process couldn’t be simpler. Our dedicated team has over 17 years of experience and can guide through every single step of buying artwork, including artwork framing, insurance advice, shipping, hanging and caring for your purchases. You can buy limited edition prints and books direct from our shop or for a more personal and tailored purchase, simply make an enquiry on your chosen piece. We will then take care of the paperwork and assist with any questions you have.

What’s the difference between original art and prints?

An ‘Original’ piece of art is unique and one-of-a-kind. It usually commands a higher price due to this factor.

A ‘Limited edition’ is a piece of art from a wider edition. All of the artwork in this wider edition will be identical, however the overall number of identical pieces will be ‘limited’ to a certain edition size. The specific edition and number will usually be visible and indicated in the lower corner of the print or sculpture. The price for a limited edition will usually be lower than that of an original due to the wider production number, however some sought after limited editions can command very high prices. We’ve created a blog to explain some of the artwork terminology we sometimes use.

What kind of artwork does Hancock Gallery sell?

We are a contemporary fine art gallery which specialises in unique original paintings, sculpture and limited edition prints. We also sell artwork on behalf of our clients, artists such as Banksy, Edgar Degas, Damien Hirst, Billy Childish and Salvador Dali to name just a few. Some of these pieces can be found in our Signature Collection.

Do you sell internationally?

We sell and ship artwork worldwide, and take care of all customs and export paperwork.

How is artwork packaged for delivery?

We pack and ship work both from our gallery directly, and by utilising professional artwork handlers and artwork forwarders. If you have specific artwork packing companies you prefer to use we will happily liaise with them to ensure a swift and efficient delivery of artwork direct to an address of your choice.
