About the work

The Original painting for Harbour was painted by Lowry in 1957, when he was in his mid-60s. Lowry regularly visited west Cumbria, in particular Maryport, in the 1950s and 1960s to see close friends, the Aspatria-born artist Sheila Fell, and the Rev Geoffrey Bennett, who, before he became a vicar, was a bank manager in Cleator Moor and Maryport. Published by Venture prints in 1972 and stamped by the Fine Art Trade Guild.
