About the work

For 20 years, Anna Marrow has honed her craft as a printmaker, illustrator, and image-maker. Her artistic journey began with studies in Fine Art at Bristol, followed by Communication Design at Central Saint Martins, where she specialised in illustration. Presently, Anna creates her art from the comfort of her home and crafts prints at Spike Print Studio in Bristol. Her toolkit includes household paints, biros, fine liners, pencil crayons, and screen printing techniques. Typically, her creative process starts with biro and ink sketches in her sketchbook, which she then transforms into collages and ultimately translates into screen prints. Anna's art is characterised by unexpected juxtapositions, sometimes imbued with humour or a sense of alarm. She skilfully merges commonplace objects and settings with exotic creatures and characters, capturing specific moments in time. Drawing inspiration from her childhood, she often incorporates nostalgic elements like 70s televisions, radios and cars into her work, alongside urban and suburban landscapes.
