A definitive example of HUSH's celebrated aesthetic, this work layers a photorealistic stencilled female figure in monochrome against an explosive backdrop of graffiti tags and ink splatter. A single touch of red on her lips is the only colour in the composition, giving the Rouge series its name and its tension. HUSH studied graphic design at Newcastle before working as a toy designer in Japan, an experience that profoundly shaped his practice. His work fuses street art with Japanese iconography and has earned him recognition as one of The Independent's 20 best emerging artists, alongside a strong international exhibition record and a growing auction market. As a unique hand-finished Study, this piece sits above his standard edition works both in rarity and collectability.
