Banksia (turquoise) by Kristina Chan presents a single sculptural form cast in bronze and finished in a striking turquoise patina. Inspired by her time in the Blue Mountains during a 2019 residency, the work reflects the enduring presence of native flora in the aftermath of fire. The use of turquoise—evoking mineral-rich earth, renewal, and the vibrant tones found in the Australian landscape. This adds an unexpected vitality to the piece. Symbolising both healing and resilience, the colour deepens the work’s meditation on nature’s ability to recover and adapt.
