Stephen Johnston - Solo

Hancock Gallery is excited to preview our first solo exhibition with Award Winning photo-realist painter, Stephen Johnston.

Often mistaken for photographs, Johnston's intricate paintings draw together utilitarian or ordinary objects and unusual or quirky situations, which when combined on canvas create quirky, surrealist compositions which are then captured with incredible detail.

Born in County Antrim, Northern Ireland, Johnston's paintings hang in several Corporate and Private collections around the world.

“My work has been particularly inspired by the classic and modern surrealists and from observation of everyday life and objects, such as films, nature, books and stories. I want to engage the viewer in drama, intrigue and humour.”
