Sarah Cooling

Sarah Cooling draws deep inspiration from the rugged landscapes of St Ives, a hub of artistic expression where she grew up. Later, her move to the Limoges region, famed for its hard-paste porcelain and Medieval enamel artistry, further enriched her appreciation for the arts. Upon returning to West Penwith, Sarah undertook a residency at Leach Pottery, where she refined her wheel-throwing techniques. Her dedication culminated in a First-Class BA (Hons) in Art and Design from Plymouth University.

The delicate translucency of porcelain underpins Sarah’s artistic vision, allowing her to craft narratives that explore the symbiotic relationship between humans and nature. From her studio at Krowji in Redruth, she creates intricate forms designed to evoke curiosity. Her work features textured surfaces and layered finishes—slips, glazes, and oxides with metallic accents—that often require multiple firings to achieve a timeless, serene aesthetic.

Sarah’s ceramic work has been exhibited widely across Cornwall, Devon, and the Midlands, with her porcelain recently catching the attention of London designer The Water Monopoly.
