“At Hancock Gallery, an exhibition launch party is just that, a party’ - High Life North.
It's fair to say that one of our highlights of 2021 has to be the launch we hosted in November for SJ Fuerst and the exclusive exhibition ‘Not a Life Saving Device’ - we were thrilled to be able to host an event in person, at long last, after only being able to do this virtually for such a long time.
Our biggest exhibition to date by the international artist, who was voted one of the best working artists today by GQ Magazine, was not an event to be missed and we were delighted to welcome SJ to the gallery too.
The exhibition features 7 stunning original pieces and the first ever limited edition by the artist, about the works SJ says: ‘I try to strike an interesting balance of moods in each painting. Life is fascinating because it’s full of fun things, serious things, beautiful things, and some dark things. I want my work to reflect this.’
We loved welcoming fans of SJ, new friends and some familiar faces back to the Gallery and seeing you discover and explore the works was a joy for all of our team. It really was a night to remember, but don’t just take our word for it, read the full review of the exhibition launch party by High Life North and see which of the exhibition pieces were their favourites… side note, we still can’t decide on ours!
“Hancock Gallery art exhibitions aren’t stuffy, antiquated affairs – they’re modern moments of magic which, in a pretty epic turn of events, really are free and open to everyone.” - High Life North
‘Not a Life Saving Device’ will be available to view until early 2022 - so if you haven’t yet visited us to view the ‘stop-you-in-your-tracks’ works, be sure to do so before it's too late. Discover the exhibition and make your appointment now.
