About the work
“By precise arrangement and juxtaposition of objects and materials, I charge my compositions with symbolism and meaning.” – Daniel Remer
Describing himself as “a photographic artist who focuses on existential issues expressed through still-life symbolism,” Daniel Remer was born in London, England, but is now based in Israel. He was drawn to photography at a very early age, working mainly in black and white. In his late teens he made the transition from photography to filmmaking and, on graduating with honours from The London Film School, secured employment with entertainment genius Jim Henson, for whom he worked on several high-profile movies and television shows in the UK and USA. Many years later, during the Covid pandemic, Remer’s passion for the still image was rekindled and he returned to his first love – photography. Influenced by the early Metaphysical and Surrealist painters, he has since developed his own unique visual language, which has garnered him international recognition and awards. This piece is an archival pigment print on Hahnemuhle 308gsm Photo Rag®.
