Juli Bolaños-Durman

Juli Bolaños-Durman, a Costa Rican artist and designer residing in Scotland, blends her expertise in graphic design, mixed media and glasswork to create unique pieces. Drawing from these varied disciplines, she reimagines everyday objects, crafting them into intricate artefacts that convey compelling narratives.

Bolaños-Durman has received numerous accolades, including the Jerwood Makers Open 2017 and the ELLE DECORATION British Design Awards 2015 in the ECO DESIGN category. She has also been granted an Exceptional Talent (Promise) Visa endorsed by Arts Council UK, along with the Inches Carr Scottish Craft Award in 2017 and 2023. Her work features in prestigious collections such as the Museum of Contemporary Design and Applied Arts (MUDAC) in Lausanne, Manchester Metropolitan University Special Collections, the National Glass Centre Collection (2021) and the Royal Edinburgh Hospital (2022).
