About the work
Untitled (Riot Cops) is a hauntingly realistic depiction of police officers behind riot shields. Floodlit with stark white light highlighting the helmets and sharp edges of their shields, the anonymous faces are thrown into shadow. It is one of four images released to accompany the artist's 2017 book 'Charcoal' and was created by Longo from photographs of the scene.Signature: Signed and dated in pencil at the lower right of the image, edition number lower left.
