Using expressive colour and texture to create contemporary urban landscapes
Bristol based artist Dan Parry Jones creates mixed media urban landscapes which, with a palette of corals, turquoise and ochres exude a South Beach, Art Deco warmth. Thick layers of paint are scraped into, to create the abstract background for layers of silk screen print and graphical motifs to merge with. The amalgamation of colour and figure draw inspiration from abstract expressionists and pop art giants such as Robert Rauschenberg and Richard Hamilton.
